.NET Device Redirection .NET Device Redirection allows a device that uses Microsoft Point of Service (POS) for .NET 1.11 to be redirected in a Remote Desktop session. When a client opens a Remote Desktop session that is configured to redirect Windows printers as well as LPT ports, the RD Session Host server attempts to install each printer for use in the Remote Desktop session

When the client reconnects to a Remote Desktop Services session, the Print Spooler service on the RD Session Host server enumerates the list of printers for the session. Installing Local Printer to use via Remote Desktop - TechRepublic
dmorales 6 years ago I have a client who is using an Gateway XP Pro system, logging onto SBS 2003 server via RDC.Now, I'd enabled all the functions to allow printers under her computer, (in her RDC program) so while onto the server, how does the server see her printer, there isn't any HP 6500 Officejet print drivers on the server, only on her computer, but yet... The new printer is installed on the local computer, but now our IT person on the West coast is saying that she needs to install the printer driver onto the server as well. She is saying that we need to ship the actual printer to her, because there is no way to install the printer driver without the physical printer
Basically EasyPrint is part of Windows Server, and allows print jobs in a Remote Desktop session to be sent to the client for print job handling, instead of trying to print the job itself. While this is slightly slower than the old method, it allows for a much larger number of compatible printers without the need of installing drivers on the server

Re-add it, when it asks you for a driver to use, point it to the SAPLC and overwrite the current one installed (it should ask you), then you should be good to go. Just wondering if anyone has seen this, or might know of a possible solution? Printer redirection on Server 2008 R2 has annoyed me a few times but is really easy to fix once you know how :) To resolve this issue you need to allow all users to create spool logs on server by following these steps: 1

I have set up quite a number of different printers for remote desktop use, in all cases the main problem was installing exactly the same printer driver on both client and server. On both client and server, a driver named exactly like this is installed (including the weird "E4" at the end, verified by looking a the print server properties)
So is there a way to say on login, delete any of these printers, or every 5 minutes run a script to delete these old session printers??? In other words the use a laptop to remote desktop into the server and need to print invoices out from the remote server to printers attached locally via usb. Microsoft Windows XP - Printing to your local printer from a remote session
On subsequent logons, the printer queue is created using the information stored on the client computer. If a printer driver is not found on the server, an event is logged and the client printer is not created. When you log on to a session on a terminal server, or to a computer running Windows Professional or Server and Remote Desktop, any local printers attached to LPT, COM and USB ports that are installed on the client (local) computer are automatically detected and a local queue is created on the server
The bigger question is how is the printer attached to your pc, USB, Printer port, or network rdp will not remap usb, its its printer port just update the driver on the server if you are not using a builtin windows driver.

According to that HP document, your 2300 printer has PCL language support, so that's probably why you were able to use another HP print driver to work (since it also has PCL support). Didn't help a bit, although instead of getting no entries in the print que on the RD client using an HP Officejet 5600, they got an entry in the print que showing 'error'
When I attempt to print from the TS session, the print job shows up in the print queue but does not print to the print device without a Print Spooler restart, and then the job hangs in the print queue and does not allow subsequent prints to be processed. Remote App Printer redirection
I did a remote app for wordpad and I can only see my assigned printers so it is setup correctly but the application I need to work must be pulling the printers from another place that has history of my redirected printers. So it looks like when I logged into the RDP server previously before I blocked redirected printers it is pulling the history now from there even though I have it blocked
base in the alternate configuration for the virtual adapter lets me browse the local network from the VM, but I was at a loss as to how to remote into the VM, and as I mentioned, only the VM workstation software had the routine for enabling local inbound; I'm using the freebee and this is only proof of concept stuff, I don't need it for anything specific. IF this is something used often I would just use network shares locally, or, network shares over a virtual network adapter VPN running under GBridge or some such (I don't think Hamachi is free any more but there's another)
