You knew that you were surrounded by murderers, yet you came in peace, and by your sacrifice you would utterly conquer death before the week had passed. Some were onlookers merely looking for something to do, while others were genuine followers who wished Jesus would establish himself as an earthly king

In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life. Why do People Smoke? (with pictures)

It's kind of like pounding yourself between the legs in response to a job well done, but once the smoker is addicted then feeding the addiction is rewarding. There are times I have been in the field and I have been standing in the rain for hours and have had no sleep and cold rations to eat and that cigarette is the only piece of sanctuary I have in the world

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Margarita Pierce Feb 26, 2014 Well I have always believe that God did forsake Jesus at that moment...but now? I am sure He did not...God was very well pleased with all that Jesus had done, so what reason would He have to forsake Him? I know that we have always heard that Jesus became sin for all of us...but there is not one single verse that I could find that says that He did..so I think that He did pay the sin debt by having kept the commandments and by being crucified for claiming to be whom he claimed to be..I do believe that when He said..God oh why has thou forsaken me? that He was in deed quoting Psalms 22.. Jesus did NOT literally become sin, He was a propitiation for our sins, the lamb of God, never referred to as the scape goat either! Psal 22:24, He hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted neither hath He hid His face from Him but when He cried to Him He heard

By January 1988 I had set aside my law practice, had gotten Catholic Answers its own office, and had cajoled Patrick Madrid and the late Charlie Harvey to join me. They are rightly concerned to find means to address difficult issues in ways that respect individual feelings while not compromising their own consciences

Did Paul Invent Christianity? Is the Founder of the Christian Religion Paul of Tarsus or Jesus of Nazareth?

(Romans 6:9-10) who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. (Romans 5:8) For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life

Did Jesus of Nazareth exist as a real human being? Outside of the New Testament, what is the evidence for his existence? In this article, author Lawrence Mykytiuk examines the extra-Biblical textual and archaeological evidence associated with the man who would become the central figure in Christianity. And the tribe of Christians, so called after him, have still to this day not died out.22 All surviving manuscripts of the Testimonium Flavianum that are in Greek, like the original, contain the same version of this passage, with no significant differences

Since Satan was defeated by Jesus on the Cross, why is he still allowed to vex us today? - Christianity Stack Exchange

  http://christianity.stackexchange.com/questions/19992/since-satan-was-defeated-by-jesus-on-the-cross-why-is-he-still-allowed-to-vex-u
The power Satan had now over the human race through sin was defeated @ the cross, for sin shall not have dominion over us any longer and we are no longer captive at his will, notice his will! Not Adams or mankind's will. As Peter said, "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish , but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9 KJV)

The Sacred Page: Did Jesus Claim to Be The Messiah?

Again, however, for a Two-Source hypothesis, altering Mark's "I am" is passing strange, although solutions have been proposed to it (e.g., assimilating Jesus' answer to his respose to Pilate; cf. 4 Ezra, 1 Enoch, Rabbis, etc.) In short, I think the inconsistency is more present in the minds of scholars than in the text.Although I'm willing to be corrected if there is a text in which Jesus actually refuses a messianic ascription.P.S

But the important thing to grasp is that the same dark entity which filled up many of the hearts of the Jews with hate towards Christ 2000 years ago is still very much present amongst them today - as strong as ever before - and this entity guides them down the wrong path as one body of mass. Jews are incapable of repenting because they believe they are the Chosen People, chosen by their god to rule the world and make slaves of all the non-Jews

When they heard it, they began to go out one by one, beginning with the older ones, and He was left alone, and the woman, where she was, in the center of the court. They, however, are not making any kind of judgment in claiming we are! Why do Christians make moral judgments? The Bible commands people of faith (both Christians and Jews) to make moral judgments

I feel worried about my daughter that today is 12 because she does not receive a Religious education, because she simply does not want to go to Church, and even when she goes she refuses to listen to any of Jesus messages. What Nathaneal says is all true, but the real reason why the Jews (specifically the Pharisees) hated Christ was because he exposed them as imposters - as Edomites and not Judeans

Why Jews Don't Believe In Jesus, why Jews reject Jesus

The Jesus we teach of does not contradict the Torah; rather, he expands the message of the Torah, emphasizing the "Spirit" of the Law, rather than the "letter" (the reason why he seemingly contradicted the Torah by curing people on the Sabbath). Catholics believe that the "perfect kingdom" our Messiah (Jesus) brings about was begun by him in this world, is to be continued by us in acts of charity, understanding, justice, etc

The arrows illustrate that we are continually trying to reach God and the abundant life through our own efforts, such as a good life, philosophy, or religion -- but we inevitably fail. Does this prayer express the desire of your heart? My prayer is that the focus would be on Jesus, and not our own efforts to gain anything, whether it be favor or somehow just feeling better about ourselves. If you wish to criticize that and tell us how wasteful we are, I suggest you learn and refer to this passage and not be like Judas: John 12:1-11 Mary took a liter of costly perfumed oil made from genuine aromatic nard and anointed the feet of Jesus* and dried them with her hair; the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil

That such a process would cause a person to reject an obvious interpretation that we cling to because it is convenient to our nature, and discover a new interpretation that is not so convenient, is fully supported by established fact in the field of human psychology. Consequently, as to efficacy, which comes of the Divine power, the Passion as well as the Resurrection of Christ is the cause of justification as to both the above. Why do Catholics and Protestants talk past each other? I believe one of the main reasons is that Catholics and Protestants have differing views on the role of the resurrection

Why did Jesus have to die?

He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth
