If time allows, and the cafeteria is serving Cuban specialties (not in the morning when ordinary American breakfast is served), I join the line and load a tray with thick chunks of roasted pork or fork tender lamb shanks or maybe the arroz con pollo (chicken with yellow rice)

Best food in airport ! - La Carreta Airport, Miami Traveller Reviews - TripAdvisor
I was worried about myself because, even with my insensitive taste buds, for the last few days the food at the usual travel stops and take-aways did not taste right or had no taste. Unfortunately, I totally blanked on trying a media noche in PR - so, while wandering the airport during my layover, I decided to do some internet searching about where I might find a media noche
I waited only 20 minutes for the shuttle to arrive, and it took 45 minutes to get to South Beach (a few stops along the way to drop off passengers at Miami hotels). After a quick visit into the Clay, (where I was informed that it was also the site where Desi Arnaz started his rumba craze, and where Mafia Don, Al Capone, ran a gambling operation), I left the relaxed atmosphere of Espanola and set off in search of the extensive South Beach Boardwalk, which runs alongside the ocean and extends for approximately 77 blocks

The branch of this Cuban chain in Terminal D quiets travelers' growling stomachs with rib-sticking food: juicy roast pork with a heap of black beans and rice; rich oxtail stew; sliced steak with onions; and a Cuban sandwich so classically gooey, porky, and cheesy that it sets your air-weary soul right back on the ground. (dont lecture me Yelpers I ran a restaurant, and served, for the better part of 15 years and I know friendly vibes); if you speak Spanish youll be treated warmer thats for sure and dont kid yourself and think otherwise. Needless to say, when I get here and crave a solid no-frills Cuban meal without disturbing my mother, or a super cheap and delicious Cuban breakfast, this is my go-to...it should be yours, too

Can you tell I eat often from here when flying out? The chicken was absolutely fresh and tender, lightly fried to perfection! It was delicious.Only complaint I have as far as this particular dining experience was that when I got to the gate, I was upgraded to first class. The main complaint with my sandwich was that it was undercooked and dry - the cheese was only halfway melted! The soup was pretty good, and was a great comfort soup
