It Would Show Everyone The Brilliance Of The Silmarillion The most important reason why Jackson should make The Silmarillion into a film series is what it will do for the book itself. Pictures The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey opens in 3D on December 14th and stars Martin Freeman, Cate Blanchett, Hugo Weaving, Elijah Wood, Ian McKellan, Orlando Bloom, Andy Serkis, Luke Evans, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Evangeline Lilly

10 Things You Didn't Know About 'The Lord of the Rings' Movies
If all had gone as planned, John Lennon would have played Gollum, Paul McCartney would have been Frodo, Ringo Starr would have been Sam and George Harrison would have been Gandalf. Due to the extreme time length needed for filming all three movies at once, the cast had to find some ways to hang out, which often meant listening to hip-hop and playing pranks on each other
Then, when Return of the King finally came out on Extended Edition DVD, I realized that my original marathon was the ideal one: Extended edition for the first two, theatrical for the third. AMC, which has been playing a lot of classic films in anticipation of big Blu-ray releases, will show the extended editions of The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King on consecutive weeks in June, opening on the 14th, 21st and 28th respectively
The Lord of the Rings (1978 film) - Tolkien Gateway
The film greatly condenses Frodo's journey from Bag End to Bree; for example, Crickhollow, Brandy Hall, the Old Forest, and the Barrow-downs do not appear. One scene, some figures were standing on a hill and a big gust of wind came up and the shadows moved back and forth on the clothes and it was unbelievable in animation
All the while you are accompanied by gentle heavenly sounds and the type of music you expect from Clannad or Tangerine Dream, it is in fact Enya on occasion. Even though its not a perfect adaptation of the classic tale its pretty darn close and manages to encompass enough adventure and excitement with just the right amount of emotion to thrill
The Lord Of The Rings Movie
The first part of the trilogy turned out to be a tremendous spectacle, which incidentally increased the amount of people booking vacations in Christchurch in order to tour the filming sites. But without a very good producer (Peter Jackson), excellent script writers (Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Phillipa Boyens) and a distinguished cast the film wouldn't have had its roaring success

Tolkien's classic fantasy trilogy, The Lord of the Rings, is brought to the screen in a reverent, stilted way, with Bakshi forsaking his sharp-edged animated looniness for a rotoscoped dullness

Much of the case rests on the definition of the term 'tangible' products and its interpretation in the existing rights contract initially signed in 1969 with Zaents Co, a named co-defendant. President of Domestic Distribution, said: "We are extremely gratified by the response of moviegoers who love the film and, in many cases, are taking this terrifically entertaining 'Journey' to Middle-earth more than once
Could The Lord Of The Rings Be Re-Released In 3D? Peter Jackson Seems To Think So - CINEMABLEND
The "things have to move on" quote is key here-- Jackson knows it's dicey at the moment, but also that time marches on, and he still expects 3D to be strong for years to come. In the end Jackson seems like a realist, both about the future of the 48 fps technology he's championed-- we'll have more from him on that later-- and what a studio might decide to do with his films
The sprawling cast includes a number of other Rings veterans: Ian McKellen as Gandalf the Grey; Cate Blanchett as Galadriel; Orlando Bloom as Legolas; Christopher Lee as Saruman; Hugo Weaving as Elrond; Elijah Wood as Frodo; and Andy Serkis as Gollum. When Gandalf discovers the Ring is in fact the One Ring of the Dark Lord Sauron, Frodo must make an epic quest to the Cracks of Doom in order to destroy it! However he does not go alone
The Lord of the Rings - Brickipedia, the LEGO Wiki
The Two Towers Main article: The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Frodo, Sam, and Gollum In the beginning of the second film, Frodo and Sam encountered Gollum, a corrupted hobbit-like creature who had craved the Ring ever since he had lost it. The destruction of the ring also caused Sauron's destruction, creating a massive earthquake, that eradicated the enemy forces on the plains of Gorgoroth, with only a few thousand members of Sauron's army escaping
Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli come across the war torn nation of Rohan as well as the resurrected Gandalf, before fighting at the Battle of Helm's Deep, whilst Merry and Pippin escape capture and meet Treebeard, the Ent. Continuing the plot of The Fellowship of the Ring, it intercuts three storylines, as Frodo and Sam continue their quest to destroy the One Ring in Mordor and meet Gollum, its former owner
A truly engaging 3D viewing experience is the product of several aesthetic factors, including creative camera angles, proper lighting, and steadily-paced editing. Respected filmmakers like Jackson, Martin Scorsese (Hugo), Steven Spielberg (The Adventures of Tintin), and Ridley Scott (Prometheus) are now releasing new projects that use the extra dimension to truly enhance the viewing experience, rather than just as a gimmick
Written by Jackson and his collaborator, Fran Walsh, the film is based on an infamous New Zealand murder of the 1950s, and the story of two intelligent and imaginative young girls whose obsessive friendship leads them to murder one of their mothers. Jackson previously received widespread acclaim for his 1994 feature Heavenly Creatures, which was awarded a Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival and an Academy Award nomination for Best Screenplay

Tolkien returned to finish his mythology, which was published in novel form posthumously by Christopher Tolkien in 1977, and the remaining information of his legendarium was published through Unfinished Tales (1980) and The History of Middle-earth, a 12 volume series published from 1983 to 1996, of which The Peoples of Middle-earth is part. Because The Lord of the Rings is said to be a translation of the Red Book of Westmarch, translators have an unusual degree of freedom when translating The Lord of the Rings
Frodo, together with a loyal fellowship of hobbits, men, a wizard, a dwarf and an elf must take The Ring across Middle-earth to the Crack of Doom, where it first was forged, and destroy it forever. The mythos, landscapes, and creatures Tolkien created are so awesome that it has taken more than four decades for cinema technology to reach the necessary level of sophistication to bring them to life
