My thought is like this one primary sql server should ping to another servers for every 2 or 3 hours regularly and if it could not connect to the server, it should send automatically the mail. Will this cause any problem in long term and also is there any way we can configure Database mail to automatically clean or archive old data in mail tables in msdb database
I clicked on properties of the EXE file and found 10.50.1600.1, but there is no place that I've found that states whether it is Express, Dev, STN, ENT, etc

Being as paranoid as I am, I decided to repair my SQL Server 2012 thinking that maybe something might have gone missing and once the repairing was done, returned in the Control Panel to find the SQL Server 2008 R2 Setup Support files along with SQL Server 2008 R2 Management Objects
There may be reasons to be using earlier versions of Management Studio these days, but none that impact me (and based on your description I doubt any of those reasons impact you either). You may have installed SQL Server Express after installing the Eval edition, but that did not replace your eval edition of the tools with a free edition
