I am not sure but back in the early days of emulation when ever you searched for SMBJapan also know as Lost Levels for the regular Nintendo or Famicom, it would claim that SMBJ was known as Rambo I have the original Kaiser Pirate from back then and it calls Mario, Rambo. There also was a SMB2J hack by some Japanese hackers that has Super Mario Bros 2 or Super Mario USA Graphic's and altered levels and is a much harder game than regular Lost Levels
Very few chenges were made to the sprites or backgrounds and a poison mushroom was implemented as well which would either shrink you to regular mario or kill you
